About Astray

Astray is a moody WebGL maze game: you roll a glowing ball through procedurally generated labyrinths that get bigger every level, viewed from above in atmospheric darkness. Public-domain code (Unlicense) by Rye Terrell, hosted on our own servers at 1.6MB.

No timer, no enemies, no pressure — just you, the walls, and the exit. It is the closest thing this site has to a meditation app.

Controls

  • Arrow keys / WASD: Roll the ball through the maze

Tips & strategy

  • Follow one wall consistently (left or right) — the classic maze rule always finds the exit.
  • Levels grow each time you escape; level 10 is a genuine map-memory workout.

Frequently asked questions

Does Astray need a powerful device?

No — it is a lightweight 3D game (1.6MB) that runs smoothly even on modest laptops and phones.
